The holy festival of Janmashtami is being celebrated on 18 and 19 August this year. According to the Hindu calendar, Krishna was born on the Ashtami date of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month.

Tulsi is dear to Lord Krishna. In such a situation, Tulsi worship is considered auspicious on this day. It is said that in the evening, a lamp of ghee should be lit in front of Tulsi.
