Assam Police: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma recently made a big announcement, in which he informed that the state police sent back 17 Bangladeshi intruders across the border, including 8 children. Sharma took seriously the increasing illegal infiltration in the state and expressed his concern about Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants. He said that Assam is now facing a real and serious threat of demographic invasion, and strict steps are being taken to stop it.

Alertness of Assam Police

The Chief Minister praised the Assam Police and said that this has been possible due to the action taken by the police. He especially praised the work of the police by calling it 'Good Job'. This incident came to light when the Assam Police succeeded in catching these 17 Bangladeshis through its team deployed on the border.

Infiltration attempts were made last week too

This is not the first incident when Assam Police has taken action against infiltration. Last week also 4 Bangladeshi citizens were sent back from the border. The names of the persons made public by the Chief Minister included Harul Lamin, Umai Khunsom, Mohammad Ismail, Sansida Begum, Rufia Begum, Fatima Khatun, Mozur Rahman, Habib Ullah, and Sobika Begum.

Chief Minister Sharma said that till last month, a total of 50 Bangladeshis have been deported, while in the month of September so far 25 Bangladeshis were caught trying to enter India illegally.

Impact of political turmoil in Bangladesh

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma also informed that due to the political turmoil in Bangladesh, a large number of people from there are trying to infiltrate into India. Sharma has warned that the main objective of these infiltrators is to work in the textile industry in the southern cities of India, and they are using Assam as a route. Apart from this, the Border Security Force (BSF) has also increased its surveillance on the India-Bangladesh border, taking extra vigil along the 1,885 km long border.

High alert on the border

Assam Police Director General G.P. Singh said that the state police force is on high alert on the international border to immediately foil any attempt of illegal infiltration. The security system of the state has been further strengthened due to the joint action of the state police and BSF, which is getting great success in stopping illegal immigrants.

The strict steps taken by the Assam government and the police force show that serious efforts are being made to protect the security and demographic structure of the state. Such strict steps are expected to be taken in the future to stop Bangladeshi infiltration.
