17-year-old girl gave birth to a child, 12-year-old boy arrested in POCSO Act

A surprising case has come to light from Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. A 12-year-old teenager has been arrested here for allegedly impregnating a girl.

The Thanjavur All Women Police arrested the boy here under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. Police said that they received information from the police post at Government Raja Mirsudar Hospital that a few days back a 17-year-old girl had given birth to a baby girl.

On questioning the girl, it was found that she and the 12-year-old boy were in a relationship for the past few years and she became pregnant with him. The policeman has registered a case against the boy under the POCSO Act and has kept him in the Thanjavur government home.
