In Sonipat, Additional District and Sessions Judge Suruchi Atreja Singh convicted the accused for raping the teenager in a hotel and blackmailing her by making obscene videos. The court sentenced the convict to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh. Orders have been made to give 50 thousand to the victim in the fine amount. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo additional imprisonment of two years.
A 14-year-old girl from Delhi had told the Murthal police station on December 2, 2020, that her sister's brother-in-law had brought her to Murthal about a year ago. The accused had taken her with him to a hotel in Murthal. There the accused raped her on the pretext of taking her to the room and marrying her. Not only this, the accused had made his obscene video. Later he married another girl. Also told him that he is happy in his life. She had moved on in life forgetting this matter. But after some time the accused started threatening her about her obscene video. He used to threaten her that he would defame her if she left him. Along with this, he uploaded his and his photo on social media. He started threatening to upload her obscene videos.
The girl lodged a complaint by giving a complaint to the police. Taking action in the matter, the police arrested the accused. The court of ASJ Suruchi Atreja Singh convicted the accused. The court sentenced the convict to 20 years imprisonment and 50 thousand rupees in 6 POCSO Act, three years imprisonment and 50 thousand rupees in 67/66E IT Act, three years imprisonment under section 384 and 5 thousand rupees fine and two years in 506 and Has been sentenced to fine of Rs 5000. All punishments will run concurrently. Out of the fine amount, 50 thousand rupees have been ordered to be given to the victim.
