24 Rohingyas from Jammu to Tripura in custody, 10 children among those caught

Police have detained 24 Rohingyas in Tripura's Unakoti district. All of them reached Guwahati via train from Jammu via Kolkata, followed by Kumarghat. From there they were going to Kaila city in three cars. These include 10 children as well. Sources said that all of them had planned to cross Bangladesh through the International Border at Kailashahar.

Police said on Tuesday that the BSF intercepted three cars at Jiturdighipar check gate on Monday evening. Among them were 24 Rohingyas. They were going from Ku Marghat to Kailashahar. They were taken to Kailashahar police station for questioning.

During interrogation, three people showed refugee cards issued by the United Nations. Police said they have the cards issued by the United Nations and there are no adverse reports. Hence, they will be released after completion of normal process.

The police say that they do not know where these people have to go. However, sources said that all of them had planned to cross Bangladesh through the International Border at Kailashahar. Earlier on April 28, six Rohingyas were apprehended near Dharmanagar railway station in North Tripura district.
