Vande Bharat Train: Taking a significant step towards making the railway network in India more modern and convenient, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced that the trial of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is likely to begin soon. Responding to a question in Parliament, the Railway Minister made a written statement in the Rajya Sabha and said that the first prototype of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has been prepared, and now it will be tested. However, he also clarified that the operation of the train will start only after the successful completion of the trials.State-of-the-art facilities for passengersVande Bharat Sleeper trains are designed for long and medium distance journeys. These trains will be equipped with modern passenger amenities to make the travel experience even more comfortable and safe. According to the statement of the Railway Minister, these trains will be specially provided with safety features like "Kavach", safety equipment as per EN-45545 HL3 fire safety standards, crashworthy and jerk-free semi-permanent couplers and anti-climbers.Also, an emergency talk-back unit will be installed to ensure communication between train staff and passengers in case of emergency. This will make quick response possible in case of emergency. For the convenience of passengers, state-of-the-art facilities like air conditioning, saloon lighting will also be provided in the train coach.Special focus on security and surveillanceCCTV cameras will also be installed in all the coaches of Vande Bharat sleeper trains, which will further improve security. Apart from this, an ergonomically designed ladder will also be provided to the passengers for ease of climbing to the upper berth. Apart from this, modern toilet seats will be arranged in the train, which will ensure cleanliness and convenience.Status of Vande Bharat train services at presentCurrently, 136 Vande Bharat train services are running on the Indian Railways network, which includes chair car coaches. These trains were operated till 2 December 2024. Out of these services, 16 Vande Bharat Express trains are running in Tamil Nadu. The longest distance Vande Bharat train service runs between Delhi and Banaras, covering a distance of 771 km.ConclusionThe introduction of Vande Bharat Sleeper train can prove to be a major milestone for Indian Railways.
