Monkeypox Virus Alert: After Coronavirus, now the threat of Monkeypox virus is looming around the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) says that the monkeypox virus has spread to more than 21 countries, with more than 200 cases confirmed so far. Now in India too, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has issued a warning.

'Young children are more at risk'

ICMR says that young children are more prone to this disease, due to which its symptoms will have to be monitored. At present, not a single case of monkeypox has been confirmed in India, but the government is on high alert regarding this infection. So far 226 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 21 countries. The WHO said on Friday that nearly 100 suspected patients have been reported from countries where monkeypox is not commonly found.

Government issued alert

In view of monkeypox infection, the Union Health Ministry has advised all the states to instruct hospitals to monitor patients with symptoms of the disease who have recently traveled to countries infected with monkeypox. The Health Ministry has asked to keep such patients in quarantine. According to sources, so far only one person who has traveled to Canada has been kept in quarantine for having symptoms of monkeypox infection.

Cases are coming out in many countries

The infection was not confirmed in the examination of the sample of this patient at the National Institute of Virology, Pune. The airport at which the passenger had reached has not been disclosed. Let us tell you that the first case of monkeypox was reported in Britain on 7 May. Cases of monkeypox have been reported from the UK, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Canada and the US.
