Delhi: Mahindra Group has announced the recruitment of 'Agniveers' after four years of service in the Army. Industrialist Anand Mahindra has given this information through a tweet. He expressed grief over the ongoing violence over the 'Agneepath' scheme. Along with this, he has described the training received by the Agniveers as special. Protests against the scheme are continuing in many states of the country. Many organizations have announced Bharat Bandh on Monday.
Mahindra tweeted, "Saddened by the ongoing protests over the Agneepath programme. Last year when the scheme was considered, I had said and I reiterated that the discipline and skills that Agniveer will learn will make him particularly employable. Mahindra Group welcomes this opportunity to recruit such trained, capable youth.The special thing is that in the past, many protesters have raised questions about the future of Agniveers. Under the new system, Agniveers recruited through Agneepath will get an opportunity to serve in the army for four years. However, after this period, the army has talked about expanding the service of 25 percent of the soldiers. Earlier, soldiers used to complete their 20-year term.
