Indian Air Force - Aircraft landed for the first time at night on Kargil air strip - feat of IAF
Indian Air Force: It is bone-chilling cold these days in Kargil city of Union Territory Ladakh. People do not leave the house without essential work. Also, this area is considered very sensitive for Indian security and the Indian Air Force and Army keep increasing their deployment here every day. During this time, the Air Force has performed such a feat, the video of which has surfaced.Recently, Air Force's C-130J aircraft landed at Kargil airstrip for the first time at night. Sharing the video of the night landing, the Air Force said that for the first time an IAF C-130 J aircraft recently made a night landing at the Kargil airstrip. During this exercise, terrain masking work was done and Garud commandos were also deployed. However, the Air Force did not give further information about the training mission. In November last year, the Air Force had successfully landed two of its Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 'Super Hercules' military transport aircraft on a primitive and unfeasible airstrip in Uttarakhand. The mission was carried out to deliver heavy engineering equipment to help rescue workers trapped inside the tunnel under construction in bad weather.Landing the plane in the Himalayas is a big taskLast year, the Indian Air Force also used this aircraft for a daring night mission in Sudan. Located amidst the challenging Himalayan terrain at an altitude of more than 8,800 feet, Kargil airstrip presents unique challenges to the pilots. At high altitudes with unpredictable weather patterns and fierce winds, pilots are required to demonstrate exceptional precision and skill during the landing process.
