Akshay Kumar becomes 1st actor to cross ₹700 cr in India in a year

Akshay Kumar’s recent release Good Newwz hit screens last year. Since then the Raj Mehta directorial that also features Kareena Kapoor Khan has been doing brisk business. But for Akshay, it isn’t just this film that has been raking in the moolah at the box office; in fact, the actor has fast become one of the most bankable star names in the industry. With back to back hits, Akshay Kumar has fast emerged as the most successful stars. Besides this, looking at Khiladi Kumar’s box office record, another surprising fact comes into view, that of Akshay becoming the first actor to cross Rs. 700 cr. NETT at the Indian box office in a single year.

With four releases in 2019 viz. Kesari [Rs. 154.41 cr.], Mission Mangal [Rs. 202.98 cr.], Housefull 4 [Rs. 194.60 cr.] and Good Newwz [approx. Rs. 188 cr. expected in final tally] Akshay Kumar has managed to collect a staggering Rs. 700+ cr. in a single year at the box office. Interestingly, with his latest film Good Newwz crossing the Rs. 100 cr. mark within six days of its release, Akshay has catapulted to the top of the chart of actors with the highest collections in a single year. Coming in second is Ranveer Singh with a cumulative total of Rs. 542.46 cr. from two releases in 2018, followed by Salman Khan with Rs. 530.50 cr. from two releases in 2015.
