Cricket Desk: James Anderson has stormed his way back into the top-ten rankings for Test bowlers following his brilliant show in the third and final Test against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The Lancashire fast bowler has moved up six places in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Test Ranking for Bowlers and he is currently at the eighth spot, ahead of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah [9th] and Trent Boult [10th].

It was a special Test match for James Anderson. Not only did he went on to become the first-ever seamer in the history of the game, but he also went on to prove that he has still got a lot of ammunition in the tank after murmurs of his retirement has started to do rounds following indifferent performances earlier in the summer.

James Anderson claimed seven wickets in the last Test against Pakistan

It was classical Anderson all over again as he nipped out Pakistan’s top-order in the first inning courtesy his precocious seam and swing. Anderson had to wait for his fifth wicket as England fielders refused to take catches off his bowling. He finally claimed the fifth wicket in the form of Naseem Shah to complete his 29th five-wicket-haul in Test match cricket.

But the moment that everyone had been waiting for, came on the fifth and final day when Anderson got one to kick in from the surface, only for Azhar Ali to fend at it to second slip, where Joe Root did not make any mistake. With the milestone achieves, Anderson is now looking forward to his next goal- representing his side in Australia in the 2021-22 Ashes.

Besides Anderson, Stuart Broad has also made some significant gains in the rankings. The fast bowler, who completed his 500th wicket earlier in the summer, has moved to the second spot in the Test rankings. Pat Cummins, however, is still going strong at the numero-uno spot despite having played only one Test since January.
