Asia's largest tulip garden is ready to welcome tourists. It will be opened to the public on 23 March. It will be inaugurated by Principal Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Gupta.Located on the banks of the famous Dal Lake of Srinagar at the foot of the Jabarwan hills, Tulip Garden is spread over an area of about 30 hectares. It was opened in 2007. Floriculture department official said, this year more than 15 lakh tulip bulbs of 68 varieties have been planted. It is expected that lakhs of tourists will come to see them. The previous records will be broken. This time an open air cafeteria has been set up in the garden.For the last three years, the tourism industry in Kashmir has suffered a lot due to Kovid. The Tulip Garden was also open for a few days but then it had to be closed. Last year, over 2.25 lakh tourists visited the Tulip Garden despite the Covid restrictions, an official said.According to the official, a tulip festival is also being organized this year. Its date will be decided later. Some special celebrity may be invited to entertain the tourists in the festival.
