Strict rules will be applicable from November 2021 On November 17, 2020, FSSAI had issued a notification regarding packaging, labeling and display regulation. Accordingly, instructions were given to mark the production date on the sugar packets. It was also said that sugar cannot be sold after two years of production. Businesses will have to fully comply with these rules from November 2021.

Considering issuing 'B' category certificate, Additional Chief Secretary Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development, Sanjay R Bhusreddy said that the sugar mill operators will not face much trouble. Old sugar can be reprocessed. By the way, there is talk of consumption of such sugar by issuing 'B' category certificate.
