Canada has now responded to India's concerns over the sabotage at the 'Shri Bhagavad Gita' park in Brampton, Canada. Canadian government officials say the park has not been vandalized, but the alleged empty space was left during repair work. The response of the authorities came a few days after India condemned the incident and urged the city administration to take prompt action in this regard. This park was earlier known as Troyers Park and later renamed as Shri Bhagavad Gita Park. It was inaugurated on 28 September.India's High Commissioner to Canada tweeted on Sunday, "We condemn the hate crime vandalism at Sri Bhagavad Gita Park in Brampton. We request the Canadian authorities and police to investigate the matter and take swift action against the culprits. After this, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown clarified the matter on Twitter on Sunday night. Brampton is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. A large number of people of Indian origin live in it. Brown tweeted, "Following yesterday's report about the sabotage of the recently inaugurated Bhagavad Gita Park, we took prompt action to investigate the matter. We came to know that the builder had left the said place so that the permanent mark of Shri Bhagavad Gita Park could be put up there. The mayor of the city told, what was the whole incidentBrown thanked the Indian community for raising the issue and said, "We are glad that this issue has come to the fore." We thank the community (Indians) for bringing this issue to our attention and making Brampton a safe and inclusive place. This is not a common practice as we do not remove any traces unless it is damaged or renamed.India had issued advisory for Indians living in CanadaThe local police also said, "There is no evidence of any permanent mark or structure being vandalized in the park."
