CM Nitish Kumar - Big decision of Nitish government - order reducing holidays withdrawn
CM Nitish Kumar: The education department of Nitish Kumar government of Bihar has now canceled the order related to cancellation of leaves of teachers and reduction in holidays. There was a big cut in the holidays from September to December. Not only did a lot of politics take place in Bihar regarding this, but the teachers union also expressed its protest. After this, now the education department has canceled the order related to cancellation of holidays. The earlier order regarding cancellation of holidays was termed by the opposition, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as an order inspired by appeasement politics. In the order issued earlier, the holidays from Rakshabandhan to Janmashtami were cancelled.BJP had made these allegations against Nitish governmentUnion Minister Giriraj Singh attacked Nitish Kumar for the cancellation of holidays. He said that Shariat law can be implemented in Bihar. Bihar's education department canceled holidays on Durga Puja, Chhath and Diwali. He had alleged that Hindu festivals could be banned in Bihar. In fact, the Education Department had revised the calendar of holidays for the remaining five months of the year, in which the holidays were reduced from 22 days to eight days from September. The Bihar Shikshak Manch said that schools already have 253 working days in a year and the government should focus on allowing teachers to teach on those days by cutting down on non-academic work given to them.‘It is strange to reduce holidays for festivals’Shatrughan Prasad Singh, president of Bihar Secondary Teachers Association, said that it is strange to reduce holidays for important festivals like Durga Puja and Chhath, because these are the occasions when the whole family is completely busy. Traditionally, the school calendar has ample holidays during important festivals. Festivals are not the problem. The problem is that the government appoints teachers for every job all over the world throughout the year with minimal facilities and then expects them to complete the job.
