Punjab: The first death case due to swine flu has been reported in Punjab this year. In Ludhiana, 46 years old advocate and BJP leader lost his life due to H1N1 virus. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering from breathing problems. The deceased Sandeep Kapoor lived in Kitchlu Nagar. He was the co-convenor of the Legal and Legislative Cell of the BJP. He was found to be H1N1 infected on 17 June. He was undergoing treatment at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
State Epidemiologist Dr. Gagandeep Singh Grover said that this is the first death due to swine flu in Punjab this year. At present, two other patients of swine flu are also undergoing treatment in the hospital. Among the patients, one person is 52 years old and the other is 57 years old. It is being told that his condition is stable.The three swine flu patients who were admitted had symptoms of the disease. Ludhiana Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh said that all those who came in contact with Sandeep Kapoor were given prophylactic treatment. None of them was found to be infected. None of these patients had any travel history. The health department suspects that Kapoor may have come in contact with an infected person.Kapoor's last rites were performed near KVM School in which a large number of people attended. Generally, there are more cases of swine flu in the months of March and October.
