At least twelve people have died and fifty others are still feared trapped under the debris of a building that collapsed today in the Dongri area of Mumbai, Maharashtra Urban Development minister Radhkrishna Vikhe Patil said.Talking to reporters after visiting the place where the mishap took place, Vikhe-Patil also said, families residing in adjacent buildings to the collapsed Kesarbag building have been evacuated, as a precautionary measure. He said the building belonged to Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA) which comes under the Maharashtra Government. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the building was 100 years old.Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a building collapse in Mumbai. In a tweet, Mr Modi said the incident is very anguishing. He hoped for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister said Maharashtra government, NDRF and local authorities are working on rescue operations and assisting those in need.
