Many hockey players coming from Punjab have worn the Indian hockey team jersey and have represented the country. Interestingly, Pargat Singh, the former captain of the Indian hockey team, is also a minister in the Congress government of the state. At the same time, Amarinder Singh led the Punjab government till a few months ago. But then his tussle with Punjab Congress chief and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu escalated and a dispute arose between the two.
