New corona patients are increasing continuously in the country. In the last one week, the number of new patients has more than doubled. Experts are adopting the policy of wait and see regarding the fourth wave in the country, while the government has alerted some states by being cautious.

In the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday, 2541 new infected were found. The number of active cases has crossed 16 thousand. Due to getting 2541 cases in a day, the number of infected people in the country has so far reached 4,30,60,086. At the same time, the total death toll has gone up to 5,22,223. However, the new infections on Monday are marginally less than on Sunday. On Sunday, 2593 new infected were found, while on Monday 2541 new infected were found.

The number of new patients has more than doubled compared to the previous week. After about three weeks, there has been a rapid increase in new cases again. New cases are being found more in Delhi, UP and Haryana. The Union Health Ministry has also warned nine states. These nine states include Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab and Karnataka.

Cases increased three times in Delhi

A total of more than 6300 new infected have been found in Delhi last week. This is more than three times as compared to a week ago. Omicron and its sub-strains are believed to be the main reason for the increase in new infections. A sub form of Omicron is also found in Delhi BA.2.12.1. It has been reported to be highly contagious. The number of people infected with Kovid has increased in the last week, but the death toll has not increased much. There has been an increase of 48 percent in Kovid cases in Maharashtra, 71 in Karnataka and 66 percent in West Bengal last week.

More infectious but less lethal: WHO

On the other hand, the World Health Organization has warned that the sub-strain of BA.2 is more infectious than BA.1, but the good news is that it is not more lethal and more infectious than the original variant.
