Central Government: Recently, the Central Government had increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of Central employees by 3%, increasing it to 53%. After this, the government has also announced an increase in nursing allowance and dress allowance. Process of change in Dearness Allowance and Allowances

25% increase in nursing allowance

According to the order of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare dated 17 September 2024, this increase has been done after the dearness allowance is 50%. Increase in Dress Allowance

Dress allowance is also given to employees who are eligible to wear special dress during work. There is a provision to increase this allowance by 25% when the dearness allowance is 50%. According to the ministry, the purpose of this increase is to meet the dress related expenses of the employees.

7th Pay Commission and Dearness Allowance

The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission came into effect from January 1, 2016. This commission re-evaluates the salaries, allowances and benefits of government employees every 10 years.
