After 8 votes were cancelled, it got 12 votes and thus it lagged behind BJP.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the election results. He has alleged that the manner in which dishonesty was done in the elections in broad daylight is extremely worrying. If these people can stoop so low in a mayor's election, then they can go to any extent in the country's elections. This is very worrying.

Kiran Kher cast her first vote

Presiding Officer Anil Masih started the voting process for the post of Mayor at around 10.40 am. Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher was the first to cast her vote. He voted at the Municipal Corporation Building at around 11.15 am. He has the right to vote as an ex-officio member of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

Voting was originally scheduled to be held on January 18, but after the presiding officer fell ill, the Chandigarh administration postponed it till February 6. Congress and AAP councilors had started protesting on the administration's order to postpone the elections.

AAP's candidate for the post of Mayor, Kuldeep Kumar, had challenged the order of Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner to postpone the elections in the High Court. The High Court, in its order of January 24, had directed the Chandigarh administration to hold elections for the post of Mayor on January 30 at 10 am.
