Chirag Paswan News: There has been a significant change in the security of Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas faction) chief Chirag Paswan. The Home Ministry has provided him with Z category security. Earlier, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) commandos were deployed to protect Chirag Paswan, but now, increasing his security, 33 security personnel have been deployed around him.

Security arrangements under Z category security

Under Z category security, 10 armed guards will be present at Chirag Paswan's residence, who will protect him day and night. Apart from this, 6 personal security officers (PSOs) will be with him at all times. 12 commandos will escort him in three shifts, who will be armed to immediately deal with any unpleasant situation. Apart from this, 2 commandos will be on surveillance duty and 3 drivers will also be deployed for his security 24 hours a day.

Political journey of Chirag Paswan

Chirag Paswan is the Minister of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries and a Lok Sabha MP from Jamui, Bihar. He took over the reins of the party after the demise of his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, and won all five seats in the Lok Sabha 2024 election in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Earlier, he had retained his seat in the 2019 election as well.

Chirag Paswan is currently away to attend the 45th World Wine Conference held in the city of Dijon, France. The need to enhance his security has been felt due to his political influential presence within and outside his party.

Ministry of Home Affairs and Security Arrangements

The Government of India provides X, Y, Y-plus, Z and Z-plus category security to some prominent persons based on their threat assessment. Apart from this, the Prime Minister is given security under the Special Security Group (SPG). The Ministry of Home Affairs decides which security is to be provided to whom, and it is done based on the level of threat.

Although it is not known why Chirag Paswan's security was increased, some recent incidents in the country have alerted the security agencies.

Alert after recent incidents

The murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui on October 12 has issued a new alert regarding security in the country. Baba Siddiqui was under Y category security, but despite this he was attacked and two bullets hit his chest. Since his death, India's intelligence agencies have become alert.

In this context, the increase in Chirag Paswan's security is also being seen as a precautionary step, to ensure his safety and avoid any untoward incident.
