Chaos over mosque survey in Sambhal, mob sets vehicles on fire, several policemen injured

Uttar Pradesh News: The situation worsened during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The survey was being conducted today on the orders of the court after the Hindu side claimed this mosque as Harihar temple. As soon as the survey team reached the mosque, a large number of people gathered outside and started a ruckus. The situation became so serious that the miscreants pelted stones at the police team and set fire on the road. After this disturbance, the police fired tear gas shells and tried to control the crowd.

After this incident, tension spread in the area, and the DM, SP of Sambhal and police from five police stations were deployed on the spot. Police officials appealed to maintain peace and said not to pay attention to any rumors. He also warned that strict action will be taken against those who spread any kind of disturbance. A video of the stone pelting incident has also surfaced, in which some miscreants are seen pelting stones targeting the policemen.
