Punjab News: Amidst the agitation by Patwaris in Punjab regarding their demands, Chief Minister of the state Bhagwant Mann has made a big announcement. CM Mann on Saturday announced the appointment of 586 new 'Patwari' (revenue officers) on the vacant posts and said that people will not be allowed to suffer. The Chief Minister also said in a video message that 741 trainee Patwaris will be given the responsibility of working in those divisions where the posts are lying vacant. He further said that there are 710 such posts where appointment letters could not be issued due to pending police verification.Chief Minister had received many complaintsCM Mann said that the Home Department has been directed to complete the process of police verification so that appointment letters can be given to the 710 candidates who have already appeared for the exam. He said that with these steps a total of 2,037 circles will be filled where the posts of Patwaris are lying vacant. Punjab CM also announced to implement biometric attendance of Patwaris in their offices after receiving several complaints against them. Revenue officers mainly maintain records related to land ownership.
