Confusion over 'ONOE' bill! The bill will not be presented in Lok Sabha on Monday

One Nation One Election: The proposal of 'One Nation One Election', which the central government had been discussing for a long time, now seems to be stuck in a state of confusion. This important bill was earlier to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 16, but now it has become clear that this bill will not be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The absence of the name of this bill in the revised list raises the question whether this proposal will be discussed in Parliament soon?

The government had already sent a copy of this bill to the MPs so that they could study it thoroughly. Still, the date of the end of the session of the Lok Sabha is December 20, and if this bill is not introduced on December 16, the government will have only four more days left. In this situation, there seems to be little time for discussion and decision on this bill.

The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved this bill on December 12. It will require constitutional amendment to conduct elections of Lok Sabha and state assemblies simultaneously. Along with this, another bill related to holding simultaneous elections of three Union Territories was also prepared.

According to this proposal, an amendment to the Constitution will be required to hold elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies simultaneously. This will require a two-thirds majority. While the second bill, which is related to the elections of three Union Territories, will require a simple majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had also expressed its commitment to this idea in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in its manifesto.

However, now the question arises whether this bill will be discussed in Parliament on time or not. If this bill is not introduced in the next four days, it may also affect the 2024 elections, as the announcement of the dates of elections may also be delayed. This proposal of 'One Nation One Election' has the potential to bring a big turn in Indian politics, but at the moment it seems to be in a state of confusion.
