J&K Election 2024: Only a few days are left for the assembly elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir. Political party leaders have started campaigning. Nominations are being filed for the second phase of elections to 26 assembly seats on September 25, the last date for which is September 5. Voting will be held in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts in the second phase. National Conference (NC) and Congress are contesting the elections in alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, news has come out that has shocked the pre-poll alliance.

Preparation to contest as an independent

In fact, NC vice-president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah filed his nomination on Wednesday from Ganderbal assembly seat. Now the Congress district president from here has filed his nomination as an independent candidate against Omar Abdullah on Wednesday, defying the party. Congress Ganderbal district president Sahil Farooq filed the form along with dozens of young supporters and said that the interests of Ganderbal district have always been sacrificed to accommodate outsiders.

Sahil Farooq on his decision

Sahil said, "Candidates are sent by air to represent the people of Ganderbal, but the youth of this constituency have now decided not to hand over their political fate to any outsider." This decision of Sahil Farooq can affect the mood of the pre-poll alliance between the two parties. If Sahil is the only such rebel, then Congress can protect the alliance by initiating disciplinary action against him. If more such cases come from NC or Congress cadre in the coming days, then difficulties may increase for both the parties.

Congress-NC alliance

Let us tell you that in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference will contest on 52 seats and Congress on 31 seats. Both the parties have left two seats - one each in Jammu division and valley for Panthers Party and CPI(M). Both the alliance partners will put up a friendly fight on five seats of Nagrota, Doda, Bhaderwah and Banihal in Jammu division and Sopore in the valley.
