Delhi-NCR gets big relief from pollution, weather clears after heavy rains

Delhi NCR Pollution: Amidst the pollution, it rained heavily in Delhi and its surrounding areas late night. The weather has cleared after the rain. At the same time, the feeling of cold has also increased due to cold and strong winds. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy sky and light rain in Delhi on Friday i.e. even today.

According to IMD, while the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 30.7 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above the average temperature of this season, the minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 15.5 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above normal. The 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) in the capital on Thursday was recorded at 437, which falls in the 'severe' category.

Air expected to improve before Diwali

Delhi's air quality was recorded in the severe category on Thursday. However, the meteorological conditions are likely to be slightly favourable, due to which a slight improvement in the air was expected before Diwali. The city's 24-hour average AQI, recorded every day at 4 pm, was 437 on Thursday, while it was 426 on Wednesday. The air quality was also very poor in Ghaziabad (391), Gurugram (404), Noida (394), Greater Noida (439) and Faridabad (410).

According to IMD, the change in wind direction from north-west to south-east due to the influence of a fresh western disturbance will help in reducing the contribution of smoke from stubble burning in the north-west region of India. However, slow wind speed will adversely affect this process.

Stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana

According to data from Delhi's Decision Support System, smoke from stubble burning in neighboring states, especially Punjab and Haryana, was responsible for 38 per cent of pollution in the capital on Wednesday. On Thursday, the contribution of stubble burning incidents in the pollution level in the city was 27 percent, while on Friday it is likely to be 12 percent.

In the statistics, transport has also been cited as the main cause of air pollution, which is contributing 12 to 14 percent to the deteriorating climate of Delhi. Delhi's Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that as per the order of the Supreme Court, the entry of app-based taxis in Delhi. Has been banned.

Preparation for artificial rain till 20th November

The Delhi government has decided to bear the entire cost of artificial rainfall process to tackle hazardous air pollution in the city and has directed the Chief Secretary to present the government's idea before the Supreme Court today.Officials Said on Thursday that if the Center supports the decision, the Delhi government can arrange for the first artificial rain in the city by November 20. Also an official said, Delhi government has decided to bear the cost of artificial rain.
