Devendra was born on 10 June 1981 in the courtyard of Ram Singh and Jeevani Devi, a simple farmer couple of Sadulpur, Churu. Javelin throwing started from school

In 1995, he started throwing javelin from school competition. While studying in college, Devendra never looked back after winning medals in javelin throw and shot put at the National Games in Bangalore. Winning the gold medal at the national level in 1999 in javelin throw despite a tough competition with the general category was a big achievement for Devendra. In this way a series of achievements went on, but in reality Devendra's Olympic dream started.

Set world record

Devendra won the gold medal in the 2002 Busan Asiad. In the 2003 British Open Games, Devendra won gold medals in all three events of javelin throw, shot put and triple jump. Devendra's name was written in golden letters in the country's sports history on the day he won a gold medal in the javelin throw event at the Athens Para Olympics in 2004.

In these games, the javelin was made by Devendra throwing a distance of 62.15 meters. Devendra himself broke the world record by throwing 63.97m javelin in Rio. Later Devendra won the gold medal in the 2006 Malaysia Para Asian Games. In the year 2007, he won the gold medal in the Para World Games held in Taiwan and in the year 2013 won the gold medal in the Athletics Championship held in Lyon (France) in the country's bag.
