Do you want to save someone... SC gives shock to Mamata government in Sandeshkhali case

Sandeshkhali Case: The Mamta government has received a major setback from the Supreme Court regarding the investigation of the case in Sandeshkhali. The apex court rejected the state government's petition against the CBI investigation. During the hearing, the Supreme Court raised questions on the petition and asked why the state government is interested in this case? After all, why does the state government want to save someone? Earlier, this case was heard in the Supreme Court on 29 April. The Supreme Court refused to stay the order of the Calcutta High Court. The apex court had said that how can the state government approach the Supreme Court to protect the interest of a person? At that time the court had said that the case would be heard after the summer vacation.

The West Bengal government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the order of the CBI investigation in the case of land grabbing and sexual harassment in Sandeshkhali. The Calcutta High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry. West Bengal had approached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court.

Shahjahan was arrested in February

When the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team reached to arrest Shahjahan Sheikh in the ration scam case, a crowd of thousands attacked the ED team. Shahjahan was arrested about 55 days after the incident. Shahjahan Sheikh has many serious allegations like murder, sexual harassment of women, land grabbing, attack on ED team.

Even after this incident, CBI continued to raid Sandeshkhali. In the month of April, CBI raided different places in Sandeshkhali. CBI raided two hideouts of Abu Taleb, who is considered close to Shahjahan Sheikh, the main accused in the Sandeshkhali case. During this, CBI recovered a huge cache of weapons. CBI also interrogated Shahjahan Sheikh's brother Sheikh Alamgir.

CBI is investigating the case

After the decision of the Calcutta High Court, West Bengal Police handed over Shahjahan Sheikh to the CBI. Along with Shahjahan's custody, the case of attack on ED was also transferred to CBI. CBI is investigating this entire matter.
