Drinking water in Delhi is bad, we are improving its quality: Chief Minister Arvind Kejarwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejarwal, who has misrepresented the Bureau of India Standards report (BIS) on the quality of drinking water in Delhi, reversed his statement after a week. He said on Friday- We do not want to do politics on water. Trying to improve its quality. 

Union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also raised the issue in Parliament last Sunday. He had said that if Kejriwal does not trust the report, send it to his officers and get it investigated. BIS has described Delhi's water quality as very poor in its report.

Previous governments responsible for dirty water- Kejriwal

Kejriwal said that he is trying to improve infrastructural facilities related to water supply in Delhi. The previous governments completely ignored it. If anyone is getting dirty water then complain, we will resolve it. He said that in 2015, 2,300 places in Delhi had a problem of unclean water. After the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government came in, its number came down to 125. We are trying to reduce it further.

No more charges for tap connection in Delhi: Kejriwal

Kejriwal has abolished the levy on water and sewer connections. He said that now people will not be charged development and installation. The government will also do the work of laying the pipeline in Delhi at its own expense.
