The University of Delhi (DU) will launch a postage stamp, Rs 100 coin and a website on the centenary celebrations on Sunday. The centenary year celebrations will be held at the Multipurpose Hall of Delhi University Sports Complex. University Chancellor and Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will be the chief guest at the function. Also, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be present as a special guest.
DU registrar Vikas Gupta said Vice President Naidu will launch a commemorative coin of Rs 100, centenary stamp, and a commemorative centenary section that will mark the historic journey of the university. During this, Naidu will also launch Under Graduate Curricular Framework (UGCF) 2022 (Hindi Edition), Undergraduate Curricular Framework (UGCF) 2022 (Sanskrit Edition), an account of the historic achievements achieved by the University.
He said that Naidu will also launch the centenary website, which will act as a digital journey towards memory. A 100-second documentary on the life of the University will also be screened during the ceremony. The university has planned an event on May 1 to celebrate its 100th year. Rs 10 crore has also been allocated for the function. There are also plans to bring a coffee table book to mark the occasion.
The university started with three collegesGupta said that the university which started with just three colleges, 750 students, eight departments and two faculties has now grown into 90 colleges with more than six lakh students, 86 departments, 16 faculties, 25 centers and four institutes. Huh. As part of the celebration, the university will also introduce several new courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including B.Tech, Management and Economics courses.
Planning to start Faculty of EngineeringGupta said that in the centenary year, the university is planning to start an engineering faculty. Presently the university does not have any engineering faculty. Now the university wants to set up a faculty dedicated to engineering as its dream.
