Jharkhand Assembly Election: Assembly elections in Jharkhand can be held in October, two months before the scheduled time. Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections are to be held at the same time. Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Dharmendra Sharma and Nitesh Vyas held a review meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer of the state K. Ravi Kumar and election officials of all 24 districts and took stock of the preparations for voter list revision and polling stations.In the review meeting held in Patratu on Thursday, the Commission's team took information one by one on topics like door-to-door voter verification, digitization, renewal of old laminated voter IDs, minimum facilities required at polling stations, settlement of public grievances and voting percentage in the Lok Sabha elections and gave necessary guidelines.These instructions were given to the officialsSenior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma and Nitesh Vyas said that pending applications related to voter registration should be settled in mission mode. They directed all the district election officers to publish error-free and updated voter lists as per the fixed schedule. Instructions were given to run special awareness campaigns to add youth, Divyangjans, women, people of PVTG category to the voter list.The Commission said that initiatives should be taken in this direction to ensure that 100% of university and college students are registered in the voter list. All district election officers were also directed to hold meetings with political parties at regular intervals and resolve the issues that arise.These officers were present in the meetingSenior DEC Nitesh Vyas said that in the urban areas of the state, those housing societies where there are more than 500 voters, a new polling station should be set up inside the society itself.
