Uttar Pradesh | Muslim youth sentenced to five years in prison in love jihad case. He had tried to get married by kidnapping the minor daughter of the nursery operator by hiding religion. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on him. This is the first case of punishment in UP under the Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Prohibition Ordinance 2020.The matter is related to Hasanpur Kotwali area. A businessman has a nursery on Hasanpur-Gajraula road. In March 2021, the businessman was at nursery with his wife and children. His car was driven by Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Mohalla Mangalpura Saraitrin of Hayatnagar police station area of Sambhal district as a driver. Meanwhile, Mohammad Afzal met the 16-year-old daughter of the nursery operator. Afzal had hidden his religion and called himself Armaan Kohli. After this he trapped the girl in a love trap.The two started talking on mobile and chatting on WhatsApp. On April 2, 2021, Afzal kidnapped the nursery operator's daughter for the purpose of getting married. But even before marriage, the teenager came to know about Afzal's reality. In the case, the nursery operator filed a report against the accused. Two days later, the police recovered both of them from Delhi. The girl accused the accused of converting her religion to the pretext of marrying her.In the case, the police registered a case against the accused under the Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Prohibition Ordinance 2020. The accused was arrested and challaned. The case was pending in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Special (POCSO Act I) Dr. Kapila Raghav. The last hearing of the case took place in the court on Friday. Special Public Prosecutor POCSO Act Basant Singh Saini argued on behalf of the prosecution. The court reserved the verdict considering Afzal guilty on the basis of evidence. On Saturday, the court sentenced the convict Afzal to five years in jail. Also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000.Additional Director Prosecution Harendra Yadav says that this is the first case in UP of punishment under the Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Prohibition Ordinance 2020. Information in this regard was also obtained from the Directorate. Under this law, till now no punishment has been done in any district of the state.
