Delhi Excise Policy - Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia did not get relief, date of judicial custody extended
Delhi Excise Policy: Judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other accused has been extended till the next date. Let us tell you that in the Delhi Excise Policy case, Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi has postponed the debate on the charges in the CBI case to May 30. Manish Sisodia and other accused in custody were produced through video conferencing from jail.ED had said a shocking thing on TuesdayThe Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that it will make Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) an accused in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. ED had said this while opposing the bail plea of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the money laundering case."You will be made a co-accused in the next prosecution complaint (chargesheet) to be filed in the case," the ED counsel said before Justice Swarnakanta Sharma. The high court was hearing arguments on Sisodia's bail pleas in money laundering and corruption cases registered by the ED and CBI respectively. The court reserved its order. A petition by AAP national chief Arvind Kejriwal is pending in the High Court, in which it has been said that no political party comes under the anti-money laundering law. Recently, the High Court, while upholding Kejriwal's arrest in the case, has held that Section 70 of the Anti-Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which pertains to companies, applies in this case.ED had compared AAP to a company and Kejriwal to its director. The ED counsel said that efforts are being made by the accused persons to delay the process of framing of charges in the case. Accepting the arguments given by the ED, the CBI also opposed the bail plea of the AAP leader in the corruption case and said that the accused persons are solely responsible for the delay. While requesting bail for his client, Sisodia's lawyer had said that ED and CBI are still arresting people in money laundering and corruption cases and there is no question of the trial being completed soon. Senior advocate Mohit Mathur, appearing for Sisodia, said the trial court judge, while rejecting the bail plea, did not explain how the AAP leader had contributed to the delay.
