Government's big decision - Fuel policy implemented in Himachal industries for pollution control
Fuel policy has been implemented in the industries of Himachal Pradesh to control pollution. This policy has been implemented to reduce the pollution spreading in the atmosphere from industries in the state. Only pet coke can be used in the industries engaged in the state. This fuel spreads less pollution. Till now, oil and coal have been used in industries and there was a problem of pollution in most of the industrial areas of the state. State Additional Chief Secretary Industries RD Dhiman has issued a notification regarding the fuel policy. Under this policy, the industries of the state have been divided into three categories red, orange and green. The industries which cause maximum pollution have been kept in the red category. Those less than that are categorized as orange and the least polluting industries in the green category. After the notification is issued, pet coke will have to be used in red category industries within one year, while for orange category industries two years and others have been given three years. After the implementation of this policy, there is a provision to take action against the industries violating it. Such industries can also be closed. There are total 44 industrial areas in the state. Of these, Baddi, Nalagarh, Parwanoo, Kalaamb, Sundernagar and Damtal are prominent. A lot of pollution is spreading from the industries here. Pollution has also been spreading from cement industries in the state. To reduce the pollution spread from all these industries, pet coke fuel is to be used. The pet coke used in industries has 85 percent carbon content. Due to its use in industries, less fuel is used, due to which pollution also spreads less.
