Manipur Violence: There is an uproar in Parliament on the issue of ongoing violence in Manipur and misbehavior with women. Since the beginning of the monsoon session, the opposition has been adamant on demanding the statement of the Prime Minister in both the Houses and the House is unable to function. Meanwhile, there was a debate between the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Piyush Goyal and Mallikarjun Kharge came face to face over the debate in the House. On the issue of Manipur, the government is accepting the point of discussion, but there is a problem regarding the rules of debate. Actually, the opposition wants that there should be a discussion under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha. There is no fixed rule of debate in this rule and the discussion can drag on for hours, as well as there is an option of voting at the end of the discussion. However, the government wants to discuss this issue under rule 176, in which there is a discussion for a fixed time and there is no provision for voting.
Across the government and the oppositionThere was a heated debate on this issue in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday as well. Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said in the House that when the MPs are continuously giving notices under Rule 267, then why is there no discussion in the House. Mallikarjun Kharge said that Manipur is burning there, whereas here the Prime Minister is talking about the East India Company. Apart from Mallikarjun Kharge, other leaders of the opposition created ruckus in the House and appealed to the Prime Minister's statement.Union Minister Piyush Goyal attacked the opposition during this, he said that it is wrong to misbehave with any woman. The incidents happening in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh are equally wrong. On behalf of the government, the Home Minister is ready to talk on all subjects, but the opposition does not want to discuss. We want that there should be a discussion on Manipur, but Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan should also be discussed.Union Minister Smriti Irani also targeted the opposition, saying that Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to answer on behalf of the government. He is in charge of internal security, so he is answering. Why is the opposition not wanting to hear the truth, I appeal to the opposition that everyone should be ready for a discussion on Manipur.
