Uttar Pradesh News: The 300-year-old Kartik Shankar temple located in Khaggu Sarai area of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh opened once again after 46 years. Due to the migration of Hindu families in the area, worship here had completely stopped.History of 300-year-old templeThis temple is located in Khaggu Sarai area, which was once a Hindu-dominated area. 82-year-old Vishnu Sharan Rastogi, whose ancestors built this temple, says that this temple was a center of religious and cultural faith for his family and community.There was a circumambulation path around the temple, where devotees used to come for darshan. There was also a huge peepal tree and a well near it. Kirtan and worship in the morning and evening were part of the daily routine here.The story of the 1978 riots and migrationVishnu Sharan Rastogi said that after the riots in 1978, Hindu families started leaving this area. Due to the increase in Muslim population all around and fear of security, 40 to 42 Hindu families migrated. By 2005, the last house of Hindus in this area was also sold.After the migration, there was no one left to worship in the temple. Encroachment further neglected the temple. Illegal constructions were made on the peak of the temple and the well was closed and a ramp was made to park vehicles there.Administration's initiative and salvation of the templeRecently the administration received information about encroachment in this area, after which this ancient temple was discovered during investigation. The officials immediately removed the encroachment and got the temple cleaned. Seeing the Shivling and other idols found in the temple, the local people got connected with faith.The lock of the temple, which was put by the Rastogi family 46 years ago, was opened. This lock was never opened nor was worship performed in the temple during that time. Now the administration has taken steps towards the protection and restoration of the temple.Ancient well and idols foundDuring the excavation within the temple premises, an ancient well was found, which was earlier closed. Apart from this, three other ancient idols were also found.
