New Delhi. Indigo Airlines stopped a handicapped child from boarding the plane at Ranchi airport because he was 'panicked'. In this matter, the CEO of IndiGo has said that the best decision was taken in difficult situations. He said that we express our deepest condolences to the affected family for the sad experience. Aviation regulator DGCA has initiated a probe into the matter and the airline has been asked to submit a report. The incident happened on Saturday when a differently-abled child was stopped from boarding the airline's Ranchi-Hyderabad flight. After this his parents also decided not to board the flight.
Responding to the incident, IndiGo's CEO said that IndiGo would like to offer an electric wheelchair as a goodwill gesture to the child who was detained from boarding the aircraft. Here, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief Arun Kumar told PTI that the regulator has sought a report from IndiGo in this matter. He said that the DGCA is probing the incident and will take appropriate action. When asked about the incident, IndiGo said, "In view of the safety of the passengers, a differently-abled child could not board the flight with his family on May 7 as he was nervous." Waited till he calmed down but to no avail.IndiGo said the airline provided them hotel accommodation and they took off for their destination the next morning. IndiGo said, “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. IndiGo prides itself on being an inclusive organization, be it for its employees or its customers and more than 75,000 differently-abled passengers fly with IndiGo every month.
