Geneva: In some countries of the world, increasing cases of monkeypox virus have raised concern. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has called an emergency meeting to discuss the issue. Russian media has given this information. The main agenda of the meeting will be to discuss the causes and means of transmission of this virus.

According to news agency ANI, the risk of spreading this virus is high among gay people. Russia's Sputnik news agency reported this on Friday. In the beginning of May, cases of monkeypox virus were found in many countries including Britain, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Australia and Canada.

The UK Health Agency confirmed the first case of monkeypox virus in England on 7 May. The infected patient had returned from Nigeria. At the same time, on May 18, a person was found infected with this virus in America, who had returned after traveling from Canada.

According to scientists, monkeypox is related to the family of smallpox viruses. Although it is not very serious and experts say that the chances of infection are low. Its early symptoms include fever, headache, swelling, back pain, muscle aches and general lethargy.

Once the fever breaks a rash may develop all over the body. These rashes often start on the face, then spread to other parts of the body, usually the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Monkeypox can be spread through contact with an infected person.

The virus can enter the body through the skin, respiratory track or through the eyes, nose or mouth. It can also be spread by contact with infected animals such as monkeys, rats and squirrels, or by contact with objects contaminated with the virus, such as bedding and clothing.
