People in Pakistan's Punjab province and India's Punjab state as well as many other areas of north-west India have to face heavy air pollution during the months of October to February every year.She said that Lahore and New Delhi regularly feature in the list of the world's most polluted cities during this season, when farmers burn stubble before preparing for the winter crop. Maryam said in the Climate Change 'Leadership Internship' program on Wednesday, "Both Indians and Pakistanis should make joint efforts to deal with Punjab's smog. Due to the direction of the wind, stubble burning in the Indian Punjab province is affecting here. There should be climate diplomacy with India to deal with the problem of smog. "The combination of smoke and fog is known by the nickname smog. Earlier last year, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had said that the Pakistani government would raise the issue of stubble burning with Indian Punjab. Naqvi had then said, "The issue of smog should be raised with India at the appropriate diplomatic level by the Ministry of External Affairs."
