India vs Bharat: The issue of changing the name Bharat from India has been in discussion for a long time. Now NCERT has taken a decision on this. NCERT Director CI Isaac has decided to replace India with Bharat in class 12th books. The special panel has taken the decision to change the names in NCERT's 12th class books. According to CI Issac, one of the panel members, there will be a change in the names of the new NCERT books. This proposal was put forward a few months ago and now it has been accepted. After the approval of NCERT panel, the name Bharat will be applied in all these new books. Isaac said that the NCERT committee recommended introducing classical history in place of ancient history in the books.

Changes in history books

The NCERT committee has also recommended highlighting “Hindu victory” in textbooks. It has also recommended the inclusion of ‘classical history’ in place of ‘ancient history’ in textbooks. Let us tell you that these changes are being made after the introduction of the new education policy in the year 2020.

In the month of April, changes were made in the syllabus of class 10th, 11th and 12th by NCERT. Many topics were removed from the books. These changes are being opposed. Many topics were removed from science books. Many scientists, science teachers and other teachers had expressed their displeasure over the updated NCERT syllabus of class 10th of CBSE.

The President had started

The NCERT panel's recommendation quashes speculations over whether the country will be renamed 'Bharat'. The discussion started earlier this year when the Center sent invitations to the G20 dinner hosted by President Draupadi Murmu in the name of the “President of India”, triggering a political controversy.

Subsequently, in September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Bharat' nameplate was displayed on the table. India was seen written on PM Modi's table while addressing the G20 Leaders Summit at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. NCERT committee recommended writing Bharat instead of India in school textbooks.

What did NCERT say?

NCERT's official statement on this matter has also come out. She has clearly stated that since development of new syllabus and books is in process and various curricular area groups of domain experts are being notified by NCERT for that purpose. Therefore, it would be premature to comment on the ongoing media reports on the related issue.

How did the discussion about INDIA and India start?

The name India first appeared officially when the government sent G20 invitations in the name of the President of India instead of the President of India. Later, during the summit in New Delhi, the name plate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also written with Bharat instead of INDIA. After this, the debate intensified on social media whether India is going to be renamed as Bharat and if it happens, what will be its advantages and disadvantages. This debate continued on social media for a long time and was also in the headlines. Recently, this discussion had subsided a bit but as soon as the news related to NCERT books started appearing in media reports, once again this spark created a fire. Is there a plan going on to change the name of INDIA to Bharat?
