Thirteen Iraqi policemen had been killed in an Islamic State (IS) group assault towards a checkpoint withinside the country's north early Sunday, security and scientific sources stated.
The assault, withinside the location of Al-Rashad around 65 kilometres (40 miles) south of Kirkuk city, happened simply after midnight, a senior Iraqi police officer instructed AFP.
"Members of the Islamic State organisation focused a federal police checkpoint," stated the officer, who did not need to be named. "Thirteen had been killed and three wounded" a few of the security forces, the officer added.
