Sadhguru: Isha Foundation founder and chief Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the order of police investigation against Isha Foundation. After the order of the Madras High Court, an investigation was going on against the foundation. The matter was related to a petition filed in the High Court by retired professor S Kamaraj, in which he had alleged that his daughters Lata and Geeta were held hostage in the Isha Foundation's ashram. On this petition, the Madras High Court had ordered the police to investigate.

Supreme Court's decision

The Supreme Court has currently stayed the order of the Madras High Court. During the hearing, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that an army of police force cannot be sent to any institution. The Chief Justice gave the verdict after an online conversation with Kamaraj's daughters. The daughters clarified that they are living in the Isha Foundation's ashram of their own free will and can come out of the ashram whenever they want. After this, the Supreme Court stayed the order of the High Court and said that their free will should be respected.

Madras High Court order and police investigation

On September 30, the Madras High Court had ordered the police to present detailed information of all the criminal cases related to Isha Foundation before the court. After this, on October 1, about 150 policemen reached the ashram for investigation. Isha Foundation objected to this and approached the Supreme Court.

Isha Foundation's stand

Isha Foundation had issued a press release in its defense, in which all the allegations were termed baseless. The Foundation said that people come to their ashram on their own will and the ashram does not force anyone not to marry or become a sannyasi. Isha Foundation also clarified that the purpose of their institution is to do good to people through yoga and spirituality.

The press release also said that thousands of people live in the Isha Yoga Center, some of whom have chosen celibacy or sannyasi life, but this is based on their free will. The Foundation hoped that the court's decision will reveal the truth and all controversies will end.

The way forward

Now, after the Supreme Court's order, Isha Foundation has got some relief, but the investigation of the case is not over yet. It remains to be seen what will be the conclusion in the coming time.
