India-China Relation: India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has recently made an important statement regarding India's relations with China. He said that an agreement has been reached with China regarding patrolling on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, this does not mean that all the issues between India and China have been resolved. At an event in Pune, the Foreign Minister said that the withdrawal of troops has given an opportunity to consider the next step, but the situation is still not completely normal.

Credit of the agreement to the army

Jaishankar credited the Indian Army for this agreement, which acted under "very unimaginable" circumstances on the LAC. Jaishankar praised the efforts of the army and said that the hard work of the soldiers and diplomatic efforts made it possible for both the countries to start patrolling in some areas under the agreement. In this agreement on October 21, it has been decided to restore patrolling in sensitive areas like Demchok and Depsang.

Challenge to restore trust

The Foreign Minister made it clear that it will still take time to normalize relations between India and China. He said that tensions have remained in the relations between India and China since the fierce conflict in the Galwan Valley in 2020. However, after the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, it was agreed that the Foreign Ministers and National Security Advisors of the two countries would consider further steps together. Jaishankar stressed the need to work patiently to re-establish trust and establish a harmony between the two countries.

India's efforts towards better infrastructure on the border

Jaishankar said that in the last decade, India has made major improvements in the infrastructure in the border areas, which was neglected by earlier governments. He said that the present government is now investing five times more resources in the border areas, which has helped in effectively deploying the army. This change is proving to be an important step in India's border management strategy.

Progress towards India-China agreement

Jaishankar said that India and China have been trying to end the tension near the LAC for the last four years. After the conflict in the Galwan Valley, the process of dialogue and resolution has continued between the two countries. He said that the first step in this process was the withdrawal of troops, so that the tension between the two armies could be reduced and the possibilities of unnecessary conflict could be prevented.\

Patrol arrangement as before

Jaishankar said that an important consensus has also been reached between China and India regarding patrolling. He said that in the meeting held on October 21, it was decided to patrol the areas of Demchok and Depsang as before. This is an important step, which will enable better border management. Jaishankar said that efforts were going on to improve the talks between the two countries regarding patrolling for the last two years, and finally now with this agreement a step has been taken towards stability in the situation.
