Janata Dal (United) MLA Narendra Kumar Neeraj alias Gopal Mandal created ruckus at the Patna-Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express, roaming across the AC first class compartment clad only in his undies and vest.
The incident befell Thursday night while the train reached Buxar on its manner to Delhi. Mandal’s co-passengers strongly objected to his state, mentioning that girls and youngsters had been travelling withinside the compartment too. However, the MLA allegedly threatened them.
“Vidhayak Ji (MLA Mandal) remained defiant telling us that they did not recognize who he was and he could take action in opposition to us,” co-passenger Prahlad Paswan advised Media.
The situation was subsequently brought under control after the train reached Deen Dayal Upadhyay Station (Mughalsarai), in which Railway personnel had to call the Railway Protection Force (RPF) withinside the compartment. The matter was settled while the seats of the passengers opposite him were changed. Media reached the JDU MLA through calls however there has been no reaction till the time of publishing this report.
However, while he was given cornered through the media as the train reached the national capital Friday morning, he defended his sartorial preference claiming he had an “upset stomach” and had to frequent the toilet repeatedly. The Railways confirmed the incident and called the behaviour of the MLA “inappropriate”.
“The behaviour of the MLA was inappropriate. When we came to recognize it after the passengers registered their objection we despatched RPF jawans withinside the compartment and resolved the problem through converting seats,” Eastern Central Railways Chief Public Relations Officer Rajesh Kumar advised Media.
