Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered their third consecutive defeat in IPL 2025. The team was defeated by defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 80 runs on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 201 runs at the Eden Gardens Stadium, Hyderabad were all out for 120 runs in 16.3 overs. Varun Chakraborty and Vaibhav Arora took 3-3 wickets. Russell got 2 wickets. Henrik Klaasen scored 33 and Kamindu Mendis scored 27 runs from Hyderabad.

Kolkata, batting after losing the toss, scored 200 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer scored 60 runs off 29 balls. While Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 50 runs off 32 balls. Captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 38 and Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 32. 5 bowlers got one wicket each.

Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan also turned from hero to zero

This was the time when the second opening batsman Abhishek Sharma should have played a little more cautiously. But it seems as if he knows nothing except hitting aerial shots. On the last ball of the second over, Abhishek Sharma fell prey to Harshit Rana. He could score only two runs off 6 balls. This is where the alarm bells rang for SRH. Ishan Kishan, who suddenly became a hero by scoring a century in the first match, also fell prey to Vaibhav Arora and was out after scoring two runs off five balls. The team's three wickets had fallen for only 9 runs. All three had single digit scores. The match slipped out of SRH's hands right here.

The team also suffered a big dent in the net run rate

These are the three batsmen Sunrisers Hyderabad has, who could win the match for the team in any situation, but today all the heroes suddenly became zeros i.e. villains. The later batsmen tried their best, but the condition created by the earlier batsmen was not only difficult but impossible for the team to recover from it. The team has now gone down a lot in the points table and the loss in net run rate is another thing. Now before the next match, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to think afresh about how to register a win, otherwise it will be too late.
