Cyclone Remal: Cyclone Remal made landfall in Canning, coastal area of West Bengal. Winds reached a speed of 135kmph between Sagar Island in West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh. It also rained heavily. The storm has caused massive devastation in the coastal areas of West Bengal. In many areas, trees were uprooted, houses collapsed, electric poles were also uprooted. Also, one person was injured after being hit by debris in Gosaba area of Sundarban.It started making landfall on the nearby coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh between Sagar Island (West Bengal) and Khepupara (Bangladesh) near south-west of Mongla in Bangladesh at 8.30 pm on Sunday night. Which continued for more than 4 hours.Before the storm arrived, about 1.10 lakh people from the coastal areas of Bengal were sent to shelters in safe places. Most of the people in this are from South 24 Parganas district. 16 teams each of State Disaster Management and NDRF are deployed in the coastal areas.At the same time, due to the storm, there was heavy rain and storm in other cities of West Bengal including Kolkata, North 24 Parganas. Due to this, trees were uprooted in many areas, due to which the road was blocked.Municipal team deployed in rescue, disaster management team of police, NDRF immediately cut trees and cleared the way. Roads and houses in low-lying areas adjacent to Kolkata were flooded.Indigo changed the timing of flights, said- passengers should leave home only after checking the flight timings.Indigo Airline said that due to Ramal storm, flights to Bagdogra, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Dimapur, Imphal, Agartala, Ranchi and Durgapur have been affected. Passengers must check the flight timings before leaving for the airport.Kolkata Mayor said- 15 thousand people deployed to deal with the situation worsened by the storm.Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said that people living in tall and dilapidated buildings have been shifted. 15 thousand people have been deployed to deal with the situation after the storm. Uprooted trees are being removed immediately.
