Mahakumbh 2025: The conclusion of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh is now near. The administration has made extensive preparations for the last bathing festival of the Mahakumbh on the occasion of Mahashivratri on February 26. In view of the huge crowd of devotees, a no-vehicle zone has been implemented in the entire fair area and the city from February 25 itself. Along with this, heavy police force has been deployed in Prayagraj city. According to the administration, about 3 crore devotees are expected to come to Sangam on this last bathing festival.

No-vehicle zone and traffic management

The Mela Police has declared the fair area as a no-vehicle zone from 4:00 am on February 25, 2025, while Prayagraj Commissionerate will be made a no-vehicle zone from 6:00 pm. Officials have appealed to the citizens and devotees to cooperate in maintaining this system. To keep the crowd management smooth, the administration has requested the devotees to take bath at their nearest ghat.

Master plan of the last bathing festival

  • The Maha Kumbh administration has prepared a detailed plan for the bathing keeping in mind the smooth movement of devotees. Bathing ghats have been designated for devotees coming from different directions:
  • Devotees coming from South Jhunsi will take bath at Sangam Dwar Airavat Ghat.
  • Devotees coming from North Jhunsi will be able to take bath at Sangam Harishchandra Ghat and Sangam Old GT Ghat.
  • Devotees coming from Parade area will take bath at Sangam Dwar Bhardwaj Ghat.
  • Devotees coming from Sangam Dwar will take bath at Nagvasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat.
  • Devotees coming from Arail will take bath at Sangam Dwar Arail Ghat.
Essential services will be exempted

Despite traffic restrictions, essential services have been exempted. Vehicles supplying essential materials such as medicines, milk, vegetables, ambulances and vehicles of government employees (doctors, police, administration) have been exempted from traffic restrictions. The administration has appealed to the devotees to take a quick bath and visit the Shivalaya and then leave for their destination.

Arrangements for pontoon bridge and crowd control

To ensure smooth operation of crowd management, all pontoon bridges will be operated according to the pressure of the crowd. Devotees have been appealed that all the ghats are recognized as equal to Sangam, so they should take bath at their nearest ghat and cooperate with the administration in traffic and crowd management.

Grand conclusion of Mahakumbh on Mahashivratri

Mahakumbh will conclude with Mahashivratri on 26 February 2025. On this occasion, special worship will be done in Shivalayas. In the last bathing festival of Mahakumbh, a wonderful confluence of devotion and faith of the devotees will be seen. The administration has made all the necessary arrangements to make this huge event a success.
