Israel-Iran War - Leaving aside Arab countries, does Iran want India's help against Israel?
Israel-Iran War: Amid rising tensions against Israel, Iran's President Pezeshkian has appealed to Asian countries for cooperation. During a meeting with Thailand's Prime Minister Patongtarn Shinawatra, he said that tensions in the region have increased significantly due to Israel's retaliatory attacks.Pezeshkian accused Israel of targeting innocent civilians, especially women and children, on the pretext of self-defense. He called the silence of the international community shameful and said that Asian countries should unite against foreign interference. However, it is difficult for Iran to get cooperation due to the close relations of Arab countries with America and Israel. Iran has appealed to Arab countries several times to end trade with Israel, but has not got any special results.Iran hopes that if it gets cooperation from countries like India, it can be successful in reducing the rising tensions in the Middle East. India's strong credibility and balanced relations with various countries, especially on the issue of Israel and Palestine, can help it in this role.Pezeshkian, who was earlier against aggressive action against Israel, is now opting for retaliation in view of the situation. If the tension escalates, it could become a big threat to Iran, resulting in the possibility of another fierce conflict in the region.Arab countries not with Iran!Pezeshkian is well aware that Arab countries are close to the US and Israel, while due to the battle for supremacy in the region and the Shia-Sunni dispute, most Arab countries will not support Iran. Amidst the war going on in Gaza for one year, Iran has repeatedly appealed to all Islamic countries including Arab countries to end trade with Israel, but it has had no significant effect. While about 41 thousand people have been killed in the one-year war in Gaza.On the other hand, many Western countries including the US, Britain and Germany are standing firmly with Israel, so Pezeshkian is turning to the big players of Asia for strong and reliable support in this conflict. Russia and China are already with Iran, so if Iran gets India's support, it can be successful in preventing this tension from increasing.Iran has big expectations from India? The big thing is that India's credibility is strong not only in Asia but also among Western countries. America knows how important India's role can be for resolving the Russia-Ukraine war, so if India comes forward to stop the increasing tension in the Middle East, it will be possible that Western countries including America support it.Apart from this, India has strong relations with both Iran and Israel, India also supports the 'two nation solution' i.e. the existence of Israel as well as independent Palestine in the Israel-Palestine dispute. India is a strong voice of the Global South and Asia's fast-growing economy, so India's role can prove to be very important in reducing this conflict. This is the reason why the President of Iran is appealing to Asian countries to come together. If the conflict increases, will it be a big threat to Iran?Iranian President Pezeshkian is considered to be liberal minded and initially he was against aggressive action against Israel. There were reports of tension between him and Supreme Leader Khamenei regarding this, but Israel also eliminated Hezbollah chief Nasrallah after Hamas chief Haniyeh. Due to protests and increasing pressure in Iran, Pezeshkian had to decide to retaliate. But now he knows what the result could be if this conflict escalates.
