UP Politics: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its list of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-elections. The names of seven candidates have been announced in this list, out of which a tough contest is expected on some seats. Prominently, the BJP has given a ticket to Mulayam Singh Yadav's son-in-law Anuj Yadav against a member of the Saifai family on the Karhal seat, which has further increased the political fervor on this seat.List of BJP candidatesAccording to the list declared by the BJP, Ramveer Singh Thakur from Kundarki, Sanjeev Sharma from Ghaziabad Sadar, and Surendra Diler from Khair have been fielded in the election. Ghaziabad and Khair are considered strong strongholds of the BJP, where the party has considerable influence. BJP candidates are expected to win once again in these areas.The party has also nominated Deepak Patel from Phulpur seat, Dharmaraj Nishad from Katehari, and Suchismita Maurya from Majhawan. With regard to these candidates, the BJP has adopted a balanced electoral strategy keeping in mind various caste equations.Interesting contest on Karhal seatThis seat was vacant after Akhilesh Yadav's resignation from Karhal seat. This time BJP has fielded Anuj Yadav, who is Mulayam Singh Yadav's son-in-law and brother-in-law of SP MP Dharmendra Yadav. Here Anuj will face SP's Tej Pratap Yadav, who is Mulayam Singh Yadav's grandson. Due to this interesting contest, Karhal seat has become a topic of special discussion in political circles.With BJP fielding a member of the Saifai family as its candidate, the election in Karhal has become even more interesting. Anuj Yadav's wife Sandhya Yadav has previously been the District Panchayat President of Mainpuri, while Anuj has been a District Panchayat member from Firozabad. Due to direct clash between the family on this seat, this contest has become more important than other seats.Political stirAfter this list of BJP, there has been a stir in the political corridors. Many discussions have started regarding BJP's strategy on an important seat like Karhal. It will be interesting to see whether BJP is able to break into the stronghold of SP with this electoral move or not.Importance of by-electionThe Election Commission has announced by-elections on nine seats in Uttar Pradesh, out of which elections are to be held on all except one seat Milkipur (Ayodhya). The last date for nomination for these by-elections has been fixed as October 25. Polling will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be done on November 23. All three parties, SP, BSP, and BJP have geared up for these elections. Congress has announced to support SP this time.Results of 2022 Assembly ElectionsIn the 2022 assembly elections, Samajwadi Party won Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal, Milkipur, and Kundarki seats, while BJP captured Phulpur, Ghaziabad, and Khair seats. Meerapur seat was with RLD, while Majhawan seat was won by Nishad Party. By-elections on these seats have fallen vacant due to the MLAs being elected as Lok Sabha MPs or for other reasons, among which Sisamau seat is different. Here SP MLA Irfan Solanki was disqualified after being convicted in a criminal case.ConclusionBJP has completed preparations for the by-elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh with the announcement of its candidates. All eyes are on this election due to a direct contest between the Saifai family on the Karhal seat.
